• #4, $10 million: X-Files: I Want to Believe. (Not good. I don't foresee X-Files doing better than $10 million next week.)

And now, it's time for my Final Cut in Movies Box Office Predictions. I'm gazing into the future and predicting that this will be the top five box office results once Monday hits. Be sure to check back on Monday to see just how close I got. (And you can make fun of me if I'm way off.)

2. Mama Mia (This is the only real chick flick in the theaters, and all the boyfriends will have to go see it simply because they dragged their girlfriends to see The Dark Knight last week.)

• Terminator Salvation: former bodybuilder Roland Kickinger will play the T-800, 20 years before Arnold's famous character. My Take: Poor thing. How would you like to take on the role that Arnold Schwarzenegger made famous?
• George Lucas plans to turn Star Wars--all six--into 3D. My Take: Watch Episodes 1-3 suck in a way you never thought you'd have to endure. George, you're breaking my heart!
• Peter Berg will produce and develop Hercules: The Thracian Wars based on a comic book series by Steve Moore. My Take: Can you get Triple H to play him?
• The Dark Knight has already hit 200 million on Tuesday night. My take: And the weekend isn't even here yet.

The Final Cut in Movies Box Office Report: 07/21/08

This Weekend's Science Fiction & Fantasy Box Office Report:

• #1, $158.4 million: The Dark Knight
• #3, $14 million: Hancock
• #4, $12.3 million: Journey to the Center of the Earth. (Journey has grossed 43 million.)
• #5, $10.1 million, Hellboy. (Hellboy has only grossed 56.6 million so far.)
• #6, $10 million, Wall-E
• #7, $7.2 million, Space Chimps. Not so good for an opening weekend, but then, what were they thinking opening next to Batman?
• #8, $5 million, Wanted.
• #9, $4 million, Get Smart.
• #10, $1.9 million, Kung Fu Panda.
• #11, $1.7 million, Meet Dave. (Oh dear. Meet Dave has grossed a total of 9.48 million it's two weeks. I think The Dark Knight made that on Friday morning.)
• #12, $.955 million, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

All in all, I'd say that my guess that The Dark Knight would blow everyone out of the water was pretty on target. The next highest grossing movie was Mama Mia at $27.7 million.

• 07/18/08 Space Chimps, Adventure, Animation, Comedy. This premieres on the same day as The Dark Knight (Batman). I don't know who decided on that.
• 07/18/08 The Dark Knight (Batman), Action, Crime. Need I say more. Batman Begins was the best Batman (in my humble opinion.) If Hugh Jackman can't play my main character (Davian in The Elysian Chronicles) when it finally becomes a movie, I'll gladly let Christian Bale do it.
