You might have noticed that I haven't posted any Final Cut in Movies shows since May. The Final Cut in Movies has been on hiatus for a while. But stay tuned. Things may be changing!

The Final Cut in Movies to Air on WWPR 1490 in Bradenton!

Ad Astra Radio's programs will be aired on Bradenton, Florida's WWPR 1490 radio station. I don't have all the information, yet, so I'm not sure what day or what time The Final Cut in Movies will air, but it's an exciting development. Having the the show on the airwaves will increase exposure for Ad Astra Radio, The Final Cut in Movies, and my writing and books (of course).

I'll be sure to let you know more information as I receive it!

To Elysia and Back Again

As I have grown from being an author to a talk radio host--and now for more than one program--I have developed what I unofficially dub "The Blog Monster." I've discovered that I have way too many blogs in way too many spaces, and since I'm about to being yet another radio show on movies in my local area, I've got to consolidate--or I'll go insane trying to post everything to the right website. (Wait... I'll GO insane indicates it has not already happened yet. Hmmm.)

Anyway, I shall continue to post movie blogs and The Final Cut in Movies podcast, BUT I will be doing it on my home blog, To Elysia and Back Again. I will also be transferring the www.finalcutinmovies.com to that site, so you will still be able to find me.

This blog posting will be the last posting on this particular blog, and I will leave it active for 30 days before shutting it down completely.

Ad Astra Radio is moving The Final Cut in Movies radio program to the 8:00 EST time slot (both am & pm) in their programing. This means you can catch this Saturday's show on Will Smith's Hancock at 8:00 instead of 2:00.

• Rawson Thurber will write, direct, and produce Elfquest, a movie adapted from the comic by Wendy and Richard Pini. No word yet as whether it will be animated or live action. My Take: With my Elysian Chronicles graphic novel in the works, I'm all for movies about comics!
• It's official! Director Jon Favreau is signed for Iron Man 2. My Take: And we're shocked? Iron Man grossed over $300 million domestically, and was still in the top 12 after 10 weeks in release! (I think the more important hard-to-pronounce name question this week is, "Will Brett Farve sign with the Packers?")

The Newest Rule Added to "The Final Cut's Rules for Surviving a Science Fiction/Fantasy Movie"

I've just added a new rule to my The Final Cut's Rules for Surviving a Science Fiction/Fantasy Movie.

• Don't wear anything red when the bad guys start to chase you. Take a tip from Edward Norton in The Incredible Hulk and Matt Damon in Bourne Identity: Red attire makes it difficult to hide and will only get you caught. Try green, black, or maybe camouflage. (Hey, the US Military uses camouflage for a reason.)

Let's be honest... Most of The Incredible Hulk wouldn't have happened if Edward Norton had just taken off his red jacket in the beginning when they were chasing him. (I discussed that point during this week's Final Cut In Movies radio show.)

Out of Town Until Wednesday

Hey everyone! I'm going to be out of town and out of e-mail access until Wednesday. I will udate the box office report and science fiction and fantasy movie news then.

The Final Cut in Movies' Rules for Surviving a Science Fiction/Fantasy Movie

For those of you who don't know, I have a list that I'm creating called, "The Final Cut's Rules for Surviving a Science Fiction/Fantasy Movie". (You can read the list here.)

This is what I've got so far:

1. If a monster is chasing you, run out the door. Do not run down to the basement or up on the roof--unless you are either 1) Jackie Chan or 2) a comic book superhero with the ability to fly. Always try to give yourself a "means of egress."
2. If one of the bad guys decides to show you all the nitty-gritty details of his operation, run. Immediately.
3. If you discover that you are in a movie adapted from a Stephen King novel, find the nearest crazy person with whom you are trapped and tape his/her mouth shut! You might also consider taping his/her wrists and ankles. You may also want to bring some Prozac...
4. Never insult a Klingon. No matter how tempting...
5. If you are a good guy actively fighting bad guys and you have a girlfriend or a wife, get her out of the country. Suggestion: she might really enjoy some spa time in the Caribbean.

And after watching Ironman, I just added a new one:

• If your arch-enemy is unconscious, make sure he's dead. This could save the director millions of dollars on extra stuntmen, more CG creation time, explosions, etc.
